Freshman Narratives

This section of Tapestry houses the stories of TAMUK Freshman and of who inspired them to find their way to study within the Javelina Nation.

Among these stories we find the history of south Texas, its people, those who immigrated from others states and from other countries. We find stories of those for who education was not an option and for those who graduated with professional degrees.

Regardless of the economic status of the families or of the occurrences of tragedies, each family send forth their student to TAMUK in hopes that their lives would change for the better.

It is very beneficial for one to have a father figure and not just any person but someone who could resemble my father. Everyone is not the same when it comes to raising a child but someone that can make the best out of their child and instill them with respectable attributes will impact a person’s life greatly.

When asked the question who I can depend on under the most extreme conditions, I immediately know the answer. This individual is my guide to great success, as well as my tutor in the times of brutal failures. My Grandfather has been my solid foundation during my whole 18 years on this Earth, never to be deterred from passionately supporting me through it all.

The reason I have made it this far into my life and for my achievements, is my mother, her name is Aracely Davila, she was born in a ranch in Rio Bravo Tamaulipas Mexico she was the second youngest sibling of the four.

My dad has been my inspiration since I was little, and even today he inspires me to try my best and be whatever I want to be. My dad has always been there for me when I felt down, and he always tries to give me advice about life as much as he can. If my dad did not tell me to go college to get a better life and better education, I would probably not even be here today.
